Visiting Paris, the City of Love and Lights

Paris is the city of romance and perhaps the most beautiful city in the entire world. When you are visiting the capital city of France, there are some things that you should consider in order to truly enjoy your trip.

Getting Around the City

When booking your flight to Paris consider arriving at the Beauvais Airport that is located just outside of the city. The flights to this airport are often cheaper and there is a shuttle service from the airport to the center of the city. The shuttles depart around twenty minutes after each flight lands and the cost is typically around €15.

When travelling throughout the Paris, using the metro is recommended. If you are staying in the city for more than just a few days, choose the “Carte Orange” as it is valid for a full week. Otherwise, buy tickets in packets of ten to save money.

Another option is to use the hop on/hop off tour busses that travel throughout the city. Stay on the bus for the entire ride first so that you can see the city’s sites in just a few hours. Most of the time, your ticket will be good for two days so you can use the second day to hop off at the sites that you want to see.

What to See in Paris

No trip to Paris is complete without seeing some art. There are some of the best museums in the world located in the city. Most of the city’s museums offer free entry on the first Sunday of the month. Make sure that you visit the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa.

Art is everywhere in Paris. There are metro stations that are decorated with paintings of the attractions that are closest to it. Some of the public restrooms have great art work as well. Make sure that you visit the restroom that is located in the corner of the Madeline Church as it offers a unique vision that you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Another common tourist attraction is a Seine river cruise. It is best to take this trip at night as there is nothing more romantic than a view of the city of lights from the river.

Where to Stay in Paris

Of course there are many great hotels from which to choose when you are staying in this great city. Hotel De Neuve is located in the central part of the city and is close to the Place des Vosges, Place de la Bastille, as well as the Marais shopping area.

The Touring Hotel offers a traditional French capital feel as it has been around since 1903. It was renovated in 2008 and offers a location near great restaurants, bars, cafes, and is near a metro station making it easy to travel throughout the city.

Hotel Villa Fenelon is another great choice as it offers a refined interior, warm ambience, and a lush garden to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the sounds of the city.
